Explore the Latest Innovations in Motorized Shades
Industry News and Product Highlights: The Lutron Triathlon Select Launch
Lutron has long been known as the leader in lighting and shade solutions for smart homes. Their motorized shades come in nearly limitless styles and materials, ensuring the perfect alignment with a home's aesthetics. These shades are known for their whisper-quiet motors and ease of use, with voice, remote, or mobile app control.
As always, this cutting-edge company has continued evolving, adding to its lines as needs change and technology and manufacturers adapt. In 2021, they released the Triathlon line, motorized shades at a more affordable price point than their other lines. Recently, they've added a new and in-demand product to that line.
Here, we'll explore what the Lutron Triathlon Select launch means to homeowners looking for the incredible convenience, beauty, and comfort of smart shades by Lutron.
Lutron's Latest Creation
At CEDIA Expo 2024, the company announced its new Lutron Triathlon Select Shades. On the opposite end of the spectrum of their signature Palladiom shades, this new product is designed for entry-level customers.
The Palladiom shades are top-of-the-line roller shades with exposed brackets, a sleek design ideal for modern and industrial homes. In 2017, they launched this line as a wired solution. Four years later, they introduced their wire-free, battery-powered Palladiom shades and found they appealed to a large number of customers.
In order to ease the price point for those looking for the same aesthetic at a lower cost, they introduced a similar model into their Triathlon line.
The Benefit of Batteries
The shades are powered by D-cell batteries, which have an approximate battery life of two years. For those looking to add shades to an existing home, battery-powered lines offer easy integration without the need for wires. Wired solutions are usually best installed during a home build or renovation project.
Size Matters
With shades starting at 22 inches and reaching an impressive 9-foot width, with heights ranging from 80 inches to 10 feet, these expansive shades are suitable for most window types. Triathlon Select Shades come in blackout and translucent options, making them ideal for bedrooms, media rooms, and areas where you want to bring in diffuse sunlight while reducing heat and retaining some of your beautiful views.
The shades up to 48 x 80 inches have an MSRP of $599, making them highly competitive as an alternative to manual shades.
The Design
You can add a top treatment to this open-roll bracket style or leave it exposed. Exposed roller shades are in high demand, especially in homes with an industrial design style or modern minimalist approach. Streamlined, sleek, and uncluttered, they align perfectly with these design styles.
Controlling Your Shades
Lutron motorized shades are known for their effortless control and easy integration into the leading home automation platforms. You can control your shades with a remote, app, or voice control. When ready for a greater smart home experience, you can create scenes that control your lights, shades, and music with one touch.
