Our recently completed home theater project offers an ideal balance of immersive entertainment and everyday functionality! The client's vision was clear: they wanted a dedicated space for enjoying movies, sports, and entertainment, but they also desired a design that would make the room inviting and practical for other uses.
Our solution was a custom theater that connects seamlessly to the home's main entertainment area, offering both high performance and versatility. Collaborating on the new home build by Newgard Custom Homes, we got to work carving out a dedicated entertainment space that aligned perfectly with the client's desires.

Open Layout for Seamless Entertainment
To make the space more flexible, the back wall of the theater was opened up to an adjacent recreation room. This design choice allows for a free-flowing layout that integrates the theater with the broader entertainment area of the home. Guests can enjoy a movie in the theater or move effortlessly between spaces during a sports game or casual gathering. The open concept also brings in natural light, making the theater feel more inviting and practical for daily use.
Hidden Technology for Clean Aesthetics
While the design is open and inviting, performance remains a top priority. The theater features a 7-channel surround sound system with in-wall and in-ceiling KEF speakers, providing powerful, immersive audio without disrupting the room's clean, minimalist look. The speakers are expertly hidden behind custom acoustic panels, ensuring they remain invisible while delivering exceptional sound quality. Additionally, two JL in-wall subwoofers deliver deep, powerful bass, adding to the cinematic experience without taking up any valuable floor space.
All AV equipment, including amplifiers, media players, and the projector, is housed in a custom equipment rack to maintain a sleek appearance. This setup keeps everything organized and out of sight, allowing the room to maintain a polished, clutter-free appearance.
Stunning Visuals with Advanced Technology
Visual performance is equally impressive, thanks to a high-performance Sony laser projector paired with a specially selected Stewart gray screen. This combination provides optimal picture quality, even when the lights are on in the recreation room. Whether watching a movie or tuning in to a daytime sports event, the bright projector and gray screen ensure vivid colors, sharp contrast, and excellent clarity.
The gray screen is particularly well-suited to spaces with ambient light, making it an excellent choice for a theater that opens up to other areas of the home. The result is a stunning visual experience that can be enjoyed at any time of day.
