It’s a Wireless World
We all depend on wireless devices in our daily lives. The smartphone is the main one, always by our sides. But modern homes have so many more. Your laptop, wireless router, home wireless phones, smart lights, thermostats, TVs, sensors, and more often use some wireless frequencies. We are exposed to more low-level EMR than ever from the plethora of devices around us.
If you are concerned about radiation or feel that you may have a sensitivity to it, there is a partial solution – go back to wires.
Professional Networks are not Entirely Wireless
While we have may wireless technologies, much still travels through cables and wires. Your high-speed internet connection comes in over a copper or fiber optic cable into your home. If your house was built in the past 20 years, chances are it was wired for ethernet, which can reliably carry higher data throughput than the fastest wireless speeds.
If you want to decrease EMR in your home, various options exist. One is to hardwire more connections. Your Smart TV has an ethernet connection, and so does your desktop computer. Both can take advantage of the rock-solid connection a wired approach provides. When Avidia does custom network installation, we use wired access points instead of wireless. The wired method allows for a more reliable physical connection to the router and doesn’t take up wireless bandwidth to provide the “pipe” for wireless devices. An added plus: it decreases EMR levels in your home.
Going Further
Wireless devices are always communicating. For example, your phone apps are continually interacting with cloud services, downloading email, messages, content, updates, and more. Smart cameras are always on from a communication standpoint. Your other devices may also be on even when they’re on standby, listening for a signal to turn on and do something. All this creates more EMR in your home.
If you are concerned about it, we can offer solutions. One is to put your Wi-Fi on a schedule, where one of your networks shuts off during the night. A more sophisticated approach available with some network equipment is to limit network access on a device basis to a specific schedule. So, if you want fewer wireless waves flying around while you sleep, it can be done without you being concerned about it. Plus, we can offer remote monitoring services for your network system to ensure it's always up to date and working as it should.
